Jury Information

Every resident of the county served by a circuit court who is at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, and is able to understand the English Language is qualified to serve as a juror in that court unless he or she has been convicted of a felony and has not had his or her civil rights restored. The most important qualities of a juror are fairness and impartiality. A juror must lay aside bias and prejudice. A juror is the foundation of our judicial system, and his or her actions and decisions should reflect this important role.

Selection

Jurors are randomly selected from the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT), Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) driver’s license and identification lists. It is important to keep your address with the DMV current to ensure that a juror summons and questionnaire reaches you.

Questionnaire

If you are in receipt of a juror qualification questionnaire, please return the questionnaire on or before the designated date by mail or in person. If submitting your questionnaire via the internet, this link will be helpful: https://juror.wicourts.gov/juror-qualification-questionnaire/search.

*Tip – You will needyour juror ID number and birth date.

Summons

If summonsed as juror, you will be designated a month and provided with a list of potential trial dates. You will be asked to call the jury line to verify these trials. Failure to abide by the summons can result in the court imposing penalties against you.

Excusal(s) or Postponement of Juror Service

All requests for excusal or postponement must be made in writing and in advance of the time period for which the juror is expected to be called for jury service. Contact the Clerk of Courts for a Juror Excuse Form. Please include a phone number where you can be reached so we may notify you of approval or denial.
